A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter. Little Rick was excited about the task - but he just couldn’t remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, “The Lord is my Shepherd and that’s all I need to know.”

We get down on ourselves sometimes because we may not be able to quote large passages of scripture. It doesn’t matter how old we get, we can still learn something new from the Word of God. I heard a preacher say concerning one passage in the Bible, that it was so simple it would take a theologian to mess it up.

I encourage you to get into the Word of God. Don’t get discouraged about what you may not understand. I usually tell new Christians to start in the New Testament. I really believe the Word is powerful! I believe it can change our life in many ways. You may not fully grasp all of it at first but, just keep on reading and studying. You will get what you need.
